The Paradox Of Free Music Downloads

This is quite possibly 'The Greatest Viral Marketing Idea of all time' - Click Here to read more - you don't need to give us any personal information and we won't chase you.....

When the Internet was first developed as the information superhighway, who would have envisaged that many of us would be clamoring to get our hands on the free music downloads that soon became available? Of course nothing lasts forever, and it wasnt too long before the record companies began crying out about the pirating laws and copyright. For a little while, it seemed that the halcyon days of downloading free music over the Internet were over. Many music sites sprung up giving promises of free downloads, but these usually formed part of an offer where you needed to purchase a certain amount of music before gaining your free music download.

Of course, this all depends on what music sites you use. Some sites will charge a fee per download. In fact, with the amount of music that has been downloaded in recent years, and the tightening up of piracy and copyright laws, most sites are not charging a fee each time you download your favorite music.

However, many music sites still offer free music downloads, but it is worth reading the small print on these sites very carefully as they often come with caveats that suggest that in the long run, your free download may end up costing you more than you thought.

It is best if you can keep the number of multiple free music files that you download down to around five at the most. If you try and download more, say for example, fifteen to twenty files, the quality may well be compromised.

Free Music downloads as easy as can be. Of course with anything that is cool there are drawbacks. If one still operates a dial-up modem (guilty) it would take so long to download the program, and sequentially the songs it would behoove one just to go to a friends house with cable modem and burn a cd there. Also with copyright law being stepped around by operating in a different country or the file sharing method, the Internet service providers tend to monitor ones activities.

If you intend to download a large amount of files at one time, that is, basically any number of files that comes to over twenty, you need to be aware that by doing this, you may be causing the files to become degraded, with the result that they will not have the same quality as you might expect. In fact, it has been said that by downloading too many files at one time, it is possible that your music will sound more like something from a 1920s wind up gramophone, than from the age of digital mastering.

When you download music, sometimes it can be a case of just taking your time. No matter how keen you are to burn your favorite compilation of music onto a CD, it is better to be patient and get the quality that you want, rather than be in too much of a hurry and end up with poor quality. Your music may be free, but you still want to be able to listen to it!
