Valencia Vas Gives Listening Advice and Wine Menus to her Music Fans
Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) February 18, 2008 -- Fans of pop classical vocalist Valencia Vas have more reasons now to listen to her debut album, Reflections. Providence Records LLC and the classically trained soprano have launched a series of free music add-ons, called Valencia Vas Vitamins, (http://www.valenciavas.com/fun_stuff.html) for fans that have purchased her music. Each music companion is meant to create interactive dialogue among fans helping listeners hear the music in new contexts, sparking emotions and thought, and creating awareness of the special qualities of the album. The first two doses of Vitamins are The Wine Song Pairing and The Beginner's Listening Guide, available at www.ValenciaVas.com (http://www.ValenciaVas.com).
The first supplement, released late last year, is The Wine Song Pairing (http://www.valenciavas.com/imgs/Reflections%20Wine%20Song%20Menu%20-%20Valencia%20Vas.pdf), in which Vas personally paired each of the songs on her album to selections of fine wine based on themes, textures and song origins. She is now using the pairing to perform at vineyards, wine tastings, and food and wine festivals. Vas explains, "I expect to have only started a dialogue on the wine/song pairing concept that continues with the listeners sharing feedback and generating their own ideas. I want my music to be interactive and personal."
The second dose of Vitamins is The Beginner's Listening Guide (http://www.valenciavas.com/imgs/The%20Beginner's%20Listening%20Guide.pdf), a song reference guide that includes a narrative summary of each song and a list of interesting and unique moments in each song that the listener can enjoy. The guide is meant to help listeners discover certain highlights in the music that may have gone unnoticed.
More Vitamins are on the way including an Advanced Listener's Guide written by Valencia herself and fan provided photography paired with her songs for display at live performances. Valencia Vas is currently working on a new album and planning a 2009 European Tour.
About Valencia Vas:
Born into a poor family in Northeast Pennsylvania, Valencia overcame many early obstacles before succeeding in recording her debut album, "Reflections". With an abusive, alcoholic father who often scrounged to put food on the table, Valencia quickly learned to deal with the minimum in life. When her father disappeared, like his Native American father before him, Valencia's mother struggled to maintain the household, keep a job, and raise three children. Valencia was forced to become independent at an early age.
Vas used that independence to develop a healthy performance resume and gain music degrees from Westminster Choir College and the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music. Valencia Vas currently performs with Alma Nova and Emmy award winning composer Kevin Stoller while being a member of the music faculty at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. She currently resides in Thousand Oaks, California.
